The two aspects of diversity in butterflies- species diversity and functional diversity are not always interrelated and therefore should be addressed separately.
It has been found that higher levels of functional diversity correspond to areas having low species diversity and vice-versa. Therefore, considering the importance of conservation, it varies depending on the need of the hour,i.e. whether high functional diversity or species diversity needs to be preserved.
Hence, further research is necessary to decide the same.
