Answer:
The Merchant of Venice, is a play written by William Shakespeare in the 16th century. In the play, Antonio , a merchant becomes bankrupt as his merchant ships are apparently sunk. Since Shylock, a Jewish moneylender had given Antonio some money as a loan. Anyways Antonio puts a pound of his flesh as collateral for the loan. Antonio's friend , Bassanio marrys a rich woman Portia who offers Shylock a lot of money in return , but Shylock refuses to take it and insists on taking a pound of flesh from Antonio as he has some old grudges against him. This matter is taken to the court and Portia disguised as a man saves Antonio as she says that Shylock may take a pound of flesh from Antonio but if even a drop of blood is dropped , then Shylock's head will be severed. That is a short summary of the play. Conclusion: Don't ask a favour from your nemesis who will willingly stab your back when you are not looking.
Note: Shylock may seem to be a villain but in reality he is a victim.
