Sebi stands for securities and exchange board of India. It's name only explains its working and functions. Its an apex institution for investment. The whole function of sebi can be categorize into three division.

1. Protective function

2. Developmental function

3. Regulatory function

Apart from above this sebi also have some other functions like promoting and self regulation, inspection undertaking, calling information from any agency, banks etc.
