Local self government in urban areas is different from local self government in rural areas i.e. towns and cities which are large and large number of people lives here.  

Task of providing civic amenities as electricity, clean drinking water, clean and well lit roads.  

Local bodies are constituted as per size of a city.

Various forms of urban local bodies exists depending on the size and nature of civic functions.

Forms are- Nagar Panchayat, Municipality and Municipal commission .
