Answer:

first number is 3 and second number is 1.

Step-by-step explanation:

let the first number be x.

let the second number be y.

from first condition,

x + y = 4------(1)

from second condition,

x - y = 2-------(2)

adding equation (1) & (2).

[x+y=4]+[x-y=2]

=2x=6

=x=6/2

=x=3

put x=3 in equation (1)

x+y=4

3 + y = 4

y = 4-3

y =1

Answer:

Let the first number be x and second number be y

Atq,

x+y= 4 -----(1)

y-x =2

y=2+x------(2)

Putting the value of equation (2) in equation (1)

x+2+x =4

2x+2=4

2x =4-2

2x= 2

x=2/2

x=1-----(3)

Putting the value of equation (3) in equation (2)

y=2+1

y=3

Hence, x = 1 and y = 3
