Transpiration plays an important role in the life of plants because it provides a force or tension to pull water and mineral ions and take up to the xylem vessels from the roots to the leaves. Sometime, when the water supply is very short, then more water may be lose from the plants by transpiration. In such these conditions the cells loses water. As a result of this, the plant loses their turgor pressure and become flaccid. The plant has the ability to withstand such a condition if it happens for a short period. But if these condition happens for long time period, the plant can be dies. In such conditions, many plants have ability to close their stomata, and stop the transpiration process.
