Experiment to coat an iron key with copper by electroplating method, is as follows -

• Aim : To electroplate an iron key with copper.
• Materials required : Electroplating apparatus, electricity source, iron key, piece of copper metal, copper sulfate solution.
• Process : We have to follow the general method of any electroplating process. Here, the piece of copper metal will be anode and the iron key will be cathode. The copper sulfate (with a little bit of sulfuric acid mixed in it for better results) will be our electrolyte solution. In this arrangement we have to provide electricity to run the process of electroplating.
• Result : After doing electroplating as the above mentioned criteria, our iron key will successfully get an electroplated surface layer of copper metal.
