Find the limiting force that can be borne by a string

LAB ACTIVITY

AIM:- To find the limiting force that can be Borne by a string.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:- string balance, weights, light strings, weight hanger.

PROCEDURE:-

Arrange the system as shown in the figure but some small weights like 50 gram on the weight hanger I know the readings of the spring balance. Now, add some more ways to the Hanger and know the readings of the spring balance. do the same tell the string is broken. no the reading of the balance in the following table when the string is broken.

TABLE:-

S.NO | TYPE OF STRING | LIMITING FORCE

1. COPPER. 15 N

2. ZINC. 12 N

3. ALUMINIUM. 8 N

OBSERVATION:- The limiting force of copper is 15 N, zinc is 12 N and Aluminium is 8 N .

CONCLUSION:- The different strings have difference in their limiting forces values.
