hey friend

Due to anomalous expansion of water water after reaching 4 °C, water starts expanding and thus fishes can survive even when it is freezing cold outside.
it is also the reasons why ice floats on water

hope it helped

The biggest advantage is when water gets cold and expands it is less dense. That makes it float on top of the warmer water, which makes lakes turn over their water and takes more oxygen deeper into the lakes. Fish breath easier because of it. Because it is less dense when it freezes the ice floats too.
