The degradation is due to mixing of chemicals in soil, water bodies or emission of hot and harmful greenhouse gases into air.
In our world many natural resources are being shared by neighbouring countries. Like river Nile, Amazon, Ganga, Godavari and Brahmaputra they flow from one state into another and one country into another. The river water is pure at location of origin. But it is polluted when it reaches the ocean.
On our planet there are continental winds flowing from one continent to another. There are monsoons that move thousands of miles. The cyclones move across seas and lands. Greenhouse gases rising to the Ozone layer make holes in the layer. That lets in harmful UV rays.
