Forests are vital for human life because they provide a diverse range of resources: they store carbon &act as carbon sink, produce oxygen which is vital for existence of life on the earth, so they are rightly called as earth lung, help in regulating hydrological cycle, planetary climate, purify water, provide wild life

Forests are the natural resources of our planet. Forests not only provide us with materialistic resources like timber, fruits, commercial products like gum, sap, rubber, etc., forests also help us to protect our environment. Forests provide habitat and niche to the diverse wildlife that it harbours. Forests serve as carbon dioxide sink, circling the carbon dioxide generated by the animal respiration and replenishes it with oxygen. Forests also act as stabilisers that stabilises soil, as the roots of the plants of the forests, bind the soil, thus prevent soil erosion and hence protects us from disasters like floods, landslides, land subsidence, etc. Thus conservation of forest is everyone’s responsibility.
