Answer- Conservation of forests is necessary because:

1. Forests help in maintaining balance in the eco-system and preserving biodiversity since they are biodiversity hotspots.

2. Forests provide us with many essential things: food, medicines, wood for furniture, rubber, etc.

3. Forests act as lungs of our planet. They absorb carbon dioxide from air and give oxygen without which we can't survive.

4. Forests help in bringing rainfall.

5. Forests provide shelter to many animals and birds. They also serve as source of income to many tribes.

Thus, we need to conserve forests.
