Conservation of petroleum and environment protection essay

Fuel is any substance used to produce heat and energy through a chemical or nuclear reaction. The energy is used by the conversion of a portion of the fuels mass. In India, we are suffering a severe fuel crises. In view of this, the Petroleum Conservation Research Association is encouraging fuel conservation. Our goal should be to reduce gasoline consumption progressively each year.
Fuel serves as a major part of our energy requirement. Petroleum, a major fuel is widely used in our everyday lives and also used to power automobiles, produce containers and to keep us warm. All plastic is made from it and used in cars, houses, computers, paraffin wax, paints and pharmaceuticals, at times it is also used as a solvent found in large quantities below the surface of the Earth and is used as fuel and raw material in the chemical industry.
Conserving energy and fuel makes sense on different levels. It is wise to turn off your car at traffic signals, minimize the use of brakes and encourage car pooling. Spread awareness for fuel conservation amongst your friends and relatives. There are three areas where the motorist can save fuel- proper maintenance, efficient driving habits and intelligent purchase of a vehicle. One of the best ways to save fuel is to reduce speed, as speed increases, fuel economy decreases exponentially. Tyre pressure and car's dirty air filter should be checked, if not, it could harm its performance and economy. Petrol is also called black gold.
In recent years mankind's consciousness has been aroused very strongly about the need for environmental protection and ecological preservation. It is of utmost importance that the people should be aware not only of the problems involved but also of the role to be played in protecting the environment.
Along with the peoples participation at the grass root level, the formal education programmed should be provided and implementing various environmental protection projects. In addition it is also very essential to develop environment friendly technologies and renewable energy sources following the principle of conservation.
While developing technologies for the benefit of man, it is also essential to study simultaneously their impact on the environment so that cyclic processes, which the nature has devised for conservation of resources is not affected.
Aquaculture :
The wastewater suspended problems have plagued the man ever since he started living in communities and the different communities have managed the wastewater disposal problem in varying degrees of success. In nomadic society man functions as an integral part of the ecosystem where in his waste would be assimilated in the system without creating any disturbance to other components of the ecosystem.
The urbanization, however, resulted in generation of complex wastewater in large amount which imbalance the ecosystem resulting in present waste problem. The use of aquaculture technology can be of immense importance in this regard.
Aquaculture is an important fast food farming sector. The current aquaculture production pattern provides a large gap between potential and actual yield. In order to make the composite operation of aquaculture more scientific it would be essential to approach with strong inputs of science and biotechnology.
Apart from other resources that could be put to fish culture, the other resources that could be recycled into culture subsystems, are the organic materials in terms of domestic sewage, residues from agricultural products, animal residues, in form of urine and excreta and a host of agro based industrial nutrients out puts, but also possess and treat a large number of wastes which would no other farming system can assuming importance in the context of environmental management.
hope it helps...
Answer:
First we want to know what is Petroleum and what is Conservation..?
So, Petroleum is mineral oil that is found under the ground or sea and is used to make petrol, plastic and other types of chemical substances. And Conservation was not allowing something to be wasted, damaged or destroyed.
Petroleum is one of the most used fossil fuels in the world it is a yellowish liquid which people use in their vehicles by which the vehicles get the ignition to travel around the world.
The amount of petroleum around the world is getting decreased day by day and still human beings aren’t aware of the fact that if one of this best fossil fuels isn’t available in the world, our future generation would be missing a lot in their lives.
Man's victory over Mother Nature has been an ongoing process since time immemorial and he takes pride in his inventions and discoveries. But his dominating attitude towards other earth mates as well as all the valuable resources has brought humankind to the verge of destruction. Unless we use the available resources wisely, we don't see any hope for our survival.
It's a well-known fact that it takes hundreds of years to replenish petroleum once it is used. The consumption of petroleum is far more than its production, and as a result, we are draining the oil reserves of Mother Earth rapidly. There is a dire need to conserve petroleum for sustainable development. Otherwise, we will have to face the consequences of our own thoughtless action.
Firstly, we need to use alternate resources to save petroleum. The golden principle of four Rs can go a long way to reduce our petroleum consumption remarkably. We should try to use a bicycle or walk for short distance and use sharing cabs or carpooling. Similarly, the use of public transport should be encouraged. We owe our coming generations all that we received from our forefathers and let us see it materialize by saving petroleum.
