In protected cultivation, minimum tillage and zero tillering is done so that the crop residue remains on the soil surface. This greatly reduces soil erosion. Soil cover is generally up to 30 per cent of the crop residue. There are no tracks available. Crop diversification maintains soil fertility and also reduces crop related pests and disease conditions..
