Answer :

Radius of circular path = 20m

Angle of banking = 15°

We have to find maximum safe speed of the car.

Banking of tracks (roads) : The maximum velocity with which a vehicle (in the absence of friction) can negotiate a circular road of radius r and baked at an angle θ is given by

  • v²= rg tanθ

By substituting the given values,

➝ v² = 20 × 10 × tan15°

➝ v² = 200 × 0.27

➝ v = √54

v = 7.35 m/s

A vehie taking a circular turn on a level road. If μ is the coefficient of friction b/w thres and road, then the maximum velocity with which the vehicle can safely take a circular turn at radius r is given by

  • v = √(μ r g)
