Consider a conductor of resistance 'R', length ‘L', thickness'd' and resistivity'p'. Now this conductor
is cut into four equal parts. What will be the new resistivity of each of these parts? Why?

Answer:

resistance=R

length=L

area of cross-section=d

resistivity=p

As it is cut into four equal parts

resistance will change

its area will change

a=d/4

resistance=pl/a

=pL/d/4

=4pL/d

=4R

Resistivity will not change as it is not dependant on area of crossection,length or resistance.
