Consider a sound system that doubles the volume of the sound and delay the signal by time decided by user. Represent the relation between input and output signal mathematically. Check whether the above system satisfies the properties of the system and justify the same with necessary equations.

Answer:

Basically -3dB is 0.707 units and it is very commonly used with filters of all types (low pass, band pass, high pass...). The low & high cut-off frequency is at which the power is reduced to one-half of the maximum power and the range between the two is the bandwidth of the signal. It is just saying the filter cuts off half of the power at that frequency. If operated below these frequencies the system might not give desired results

For example,

but lets assume R is a constant 1 ΩΩ. Because of the constant 1ohm, we can remove it from the equation all together.

Lets say you have a signal at 6 V, its power would then be (6x6 V)=36 W

Now I take the -3dB point, 6 V⋅(0.707)=4.2426 V.

Now lets get the power at the -3dB point, (4.2426 V)^2=18 W.

So originally we had 36 W, now we have 18 W (which of course is half of 36 W).
