Consider the data set 2, 2, 3, 6, 10.

a. compute the arithmetic mean, median and mode.

b. add 5 to each of the data values. compute the mean, median and mode.

c. compare the results of parts (a) and (b). in general, how do you think the mode, median, and mean are affected when the same constant is added to each data value in a set?

a)i )mean: 2+2+3+6+10/5= 23/5 = 4.6

ii)median: (5+1/2)th term = 6/2 th term= 3 rd term= 3

iii)mode: 2

b)mean:7+7+8+11+20/5= 53/5=10.6 mode:7 median:5+1/2 th term= 6/2 th term= 3rd term= 8

c)as the set of data changes the numerical values also get changed and so the mean, median, mode are different in both the cases.
