Consider the following pair of equations:

y = 2x + 8
y = x + 1

Explain how you will solve the pair of equations by substitution. Show all the steps and write the solution in (x, y) form. (5 points)

(x,y)=(-7,-6)

so we have two equations,

y=2x+8 -------eq 1

y=x+1 --------eq 2

so I have solve it two times by substitution method. first method is in picture.

second method

from eq 2 we have y=x+1 so put y value in eq 1

x+1=2x+8

now move the variable at one side and constant at other side so we have

x-2x=8-1

-x=7

x= -7

Now for value of y put the x = -7 in eq 2 so we have

y=x+1 --------eq 2

y= -7+1

y=-6
