(a) oxidation reaction

eg- 2Mg+ O2= 2MgO

(b)reduction

eg- Na+H=NaH

(d)the substance which gives it's oxygen to other substance for its oxidation is said to be get reduced .and it is oxidising agent.

for eg- cuo+2h= h2o +cu

here cuo is oxidising agent as it gives oxygen to h .

(c)the substance which get oxygen from other substance for its oxidation is known as reducing agent.

from the above example . 2h is reducing agent. and then it gets oxidised .
