Arrange C – Cl bond length of these compounds in decreasing order

a) 1 > 2 > 3 b) 1 > 3 > 2 c) 3 > 2 > 1 d) 2 > 3 > 1​

the correct option will be third one....

  1. with the increase in percentage of s character the bond length will decrease.
  2. in first case the carbon which is attached with chlorine has SP3 hybridization where as in the second case the carbon attached with chlorine has SP2 hybridization clearly as character in first one is less than the second one therefore bond length of first one would be greater than second one.
