The correct answer is 10.08L

GIVEN

32g of ferric oxide undergoes reduction with sufficient amount of Co gas and efficiency of reaction is 75%

TO FIND

Volume of CO₂ formed at STP

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

According to the reaction;

Fe₂o₃+3CO ---> 2Fe+3CO₂

We can observe that;

1 mol of Fe₂O₃ gives 3 moles of CO₂

Given mass of Fe₂O₃ = 32 grams

Number of Moles = 32/159.6 = = 0.2 moles

Moles of CO₂ produced by 0.2 moles of Fe₂O₃ = 0.2 × 3 = 0.6 moles.

Now,

It is given that the reaction's efficiency is only 75%

Therefore,

Amount of CO₂ = 75% of 0.6 = 0.45 moles.

We know that,

1 mole of gas = 22.4 L at STP

0.45 mole of CO₂ = 22.4 × 0.45 = 10.08 l

Hence, The correct answer is 10.08L
