Consider the relative positions of the sun,the moon, and the earth on the new moon day and both the quarters. What will be the angle between the lines joining the earth and the moon as well as the Earth and the sun? How many times will this angle be formed in a month?

Earth, Moon and Sun also lined up with the Moon that also coming between the Earth as well as the Sun.

In general the alignment is not perfect with the Moon's longitude which is also laying a few degrees above or below the Sun's longitude.

On New Moon days Moon also rises along with the Sun
