Consider the situation shown in figure (31-E23). The switch S is open for a long time and then closed. (a) Find the charge flown through the battery when the switch S is closed. (b) Find the work done by the battery.

(c) Find the change in energy stored in the capacitors.
(d) Find the heat developed in the system.

Explanation:

Zero is known as the neutral integer, or the whole number that comes in the middle of the positive and negative numbers on a number line. Zero does not have a positive or negative value. Zero is however considered a whole number, which in turn makes it an integer, but not necessarily a natural number.

a) The charge is flown through the battery (E) = E \times C/2

b) Work done = E2C/2

c) Change in energy stored = E2C/4

d) The net charge in the energy is dissipated as heat.

Explanation:

a) Since the switch was open long time, hence the charge flown must be due to both when switch is closed

C = C/2

Hence Q = E \times C /2

a) Work done = q \times v = EC/s \times E = E2c/2

b) E = ½ \times C/2 \times E2 = E2C/4

c) The net charge in the energy is dissipated as heat.
