The protagonist of the story ‘Alassankutty’,is a simple and noble man.When the story begins we see Alassankutty talking with the small fishes in his pond.He is quite as he enjoyed what he did.every day after morning prayer he comes with some rice flour.He puts it in the pond and the small fish come to the surface in groups as if to dance and show their happiness to their provider or food. But his wife mariam is more ambitious .She wants her daughter to be married in a good way ,her son to be educated in a good college and live comfortably .Then come the Temptation in the person of the visitor who tells them to join the fish growing collective.The pond is cleaned and disinfected.After a week the big fish is placed in the pond .Slowly we find that small fish are all eaten up by the big fish .We See the big fish getting fatter by eating the small fish .Alassan’s Joy is gone and he is even afraid of terrifying glint on the teeth of the big fish.
