QUESTION

Consider three consecutive odd integers. The sum of 3 times the sum of first number and second number and 2 times the third number is equal to 150.Find the numbers

ANSWER

⇒let us assume the consecutive odd numbers as 2n + 1,2n+ 3, 2n + 5

In the question, it is given that three times the sum of first integer and second integer 2 times the third integer is 150

So,

⇒3(2n+1+2n+3) + 2(2n+5) =150

⇒3(4n + 4) + 4n+ 10 = 150

⇒ 12n + 12+ 4n+ 10 = 150

⇒ 16n + 22= 150

⇒ 16n= 150 - 22

⇒ 16n = 128

⇒ n= 128/16

⇒ n = 8

We have assumed that the numbers are 2n + 1, 2n + 3, 2n + 5

⇒so,numbers are

1)2(8) + 1 = 17

2) 2(8) + 3 = 19

3) 2(8) + 5 = 21

⇒ Therefore,the numbers are 17,19,21
