let the 1st fraction be 1/ y then the other one will be 1/ y+2
according to question
1/y + 1/(y+2) = 5/12
that is the equation will be
5y×y –14y –24 = 0
solving equation we get y = 4 or –12/10 ( which is not possible bcoz in question numerator must be 1 )
so we take y = 4
now the fractions are 1/4 and 1/6. ans
hope it will be helpful.
