In India land resources are used for the following purpose:

→ Forests

→ Land not available for cultivation:

         (a) Barren and waste land

         (b) Land put to non-agricultural uses

→ Other uncultivated land

         (a) Permanent pastures and grazing land

         (b) Land under miscellaneous tree crops and groves

         (c) Culturable waste land

→ Fallow land

        (a) Current Fallow

         (b) Other than current fallow land (not cultivated for < 5 years)

→ Net Sown Area

Gross cropped area + Net Sown Area
