The members of the Constituent Assembly gathered from different parts of India representing different social groups and communities of the country.
It was meant for showing the idea of 'Unity in Diversity' so that desires and aspirations of diferrent groups could be addressed correctly.
The members of the Assembly were not elected through the Universal Adult Franchise system.
That is why, it is often referred to as an undemocratically elected body.
