3. By placing the tip of the compass on point A, draw an arc above and below the line segment

4. Repeat with point B

5. You will find that the two pairs of arcs form a 'x' shape both above and below the line segment. Also notice that a new meeting point is created

7. Join the new points with a scale

Measure the 4 angles and you will notice that they all are perpendicular
