Construction of a quadrilateral ABCD, with the given data  AB = 3.5 cm, BC = 2.5 cm, CD = 4 cm and ∠ B = 60 ˚and ∠ C = 2∠ B = 2 × 60˚ = 120˚ is in the attachment below.

Criteria for constructing a unique quadrilateral :

  • 4 sides and 1 diagonal
  • 3 sides and 2 diagonals
  • 2 adjacent sides and 3 angles
  • 3 sides and 2 included angles
  • 4 sides and any 1 angle

Given :

AB = 3.5 cm, BC = 2.5 cm, CD = 4 cm , ∠ B = 60 ˚and ∠ C = 2∠ B = 2 × 60˚ = 120˚

To Draw:

Construction of a quadrilateral ABCD

Steps of construction:

1. First of all, draw a line segment BC = 2.5 cm.

2. At B, draw a line segment XB making an angle of 60˚ with the help of a compass.

3. Draw an arc of radius 3.5 cm from point B and name it A.

4. At C, draw a line segment YC making an angle of 120˚ with the help of a compass.

5. Draw an arc of radius 4 cm from point C and name it D.

6. Join AD.

Hence, ABCD is the required quadrilateral with the given data.
