Steps Of Construction :

Step 1 : Draw a line segment NO = 3.8 cm

Step 2 : From O take an arc of 2.8 cm for OS

Step 3 : From N take an arc of 4 cm for NS

Step 4 : Join both the arcs and name the point of intersection as S

Step 5 : From O take an arc of 5 cm for OE

Step 6 : From N take an arc of 4 cm for NE

Step 7 : Join both the arcs and name the point of intersection as E

Quadrilateral NOSE is formed with the diagonals OE and NS.

Construction Facts :

• Measurements of at least 5 part must be given.

• The 5 parts can be :

- When 4 Sides and 1 Diagonal are given.

- When 2 Adjacent Sides and 3 Angles are given.

- When 3 Sides and 2 Included Angles are given.

• Angles should be construed using ruler and compasses whenever possible.

• Length of Diagonal have to be less than the sum of lengths of adjacent sides.

QUESTION :

Construct a quadrilateral NOSE where NO = 3.8 cm, OS=2.8cm, NE= 4cm, NS=4 cm and OE =5 cm.

SOLUTION :

See the above attachment..

STEPS FOR CONSTRUCTION :

Step 1 : Draw the line segment NO joining the points N and O to be of length 3.8 cm.

Step 2 : At the point O, Draw an arc of Radius 2.8 cm .

Step 3 : At point N, draw an arc of Radius 4 cm.

Step 4 : At point O, draw the diagonal i.e, draw another arc of Radius 5 cm.

Step 5 : The above arc will cut the arc drawn at N at a point E

Step 6 : At point N, draw the other diagonal i.e, draw another arc of Radius 4 cm.

Step 6 : The above arc will cut the arc drawn at O at a point S

Step 7 : Join OS
