 Let \: l \:and \: b \: are \: length \: and \\ breadth\: of \: a \: rectangle

 Let \: b = 5 \:cm (given)

 Perimeter \: of \:the \: rectangle = 24 \:cm

 \implies 2( l + b ) = 24

 \implies  l + 5  = \frac{24}{2}

 \implies  l   = 12 - 5

 \implies  l   = 7 \:cm

Construction steps:

  1. Draw a line segment (length) AB = 7 cm .
  2. Draw <BAX = 90° .
  3. Centre A with radius 5 cm draw an arc which intersects AX at D .
  4. Take B and D as centres and 5 cm and 7cm radii draw two arcs which intersects at C .
  5. Join B and D to C .
  6. Required Rectangle ABCD forward.
