Construction of a rhombus
Explanation:
Construct a rhombus ABCD where diagonals AC = 5 cm and BD = 6.8 cm.
We know that diagonals of a rhombus are perpendicular bisectors of each other
Construction:
- Draw a line segment AC = 5 cm using a ruler.
- With A as center and radius as a litter less than AC draw two arcs on top and bottom of the line AC. Now repeat this with C as center and the same radius so the previous two arcs are intersected at P and R.
- Join PR. PR will be the perpendicular bisector of AC at O.
- With O as center and 1/2 BD as radius (3.4 cm) draw two arcs to cut PR on either side of AC. Mark the points as B and D.
- Join AB, BC, CD & DA.
- ABCD is the required rhombus.
