let the side of square = x cm

Using Pythagoras' Theorem

 {x}^{2}  +  {x}^{2}  =  {(8.2)}^{2}

 \sqrt{ {x}^{2}  +  {x}^{2} }  = 8.2

 \sqrt{2 {x}^{2} }  = 8.2

 \sqrt{2} x = 8.2

x =  \frac{8.2}{ \sqrt{2} }

x =  \frac{8 .2 \sqrt{2} }{2}

x = 4.1 \sqrt{2}

x = 5.8 \: cm
