According to the given question:-

Construct a tangent of the length 4 cm from a point which is at a distance of 5 cm from the centre of the circle.

Hence,

Given

\sf = &gt; OB ± AB \\ </p><p>\sf = &gt; OA = 5cm \\ </p><p> \sf = &gt; AB = 4 cm

Triange ABO

Using Pythagoras Theorem:-

 \sf = &gt; OA2 = AB2 + BO2 \\ </p><p>\sf = &gt; 52 = 42 + BO2 \\ </p><p>\sf = &gt; BO2 = 25 - 16 \\ </p><p>\sf = &gt; BO2 = 9 \\ </p><p>\sf = &gt; BO = 3 \\

Thence, 3 cm is the radius of the circle.
