Construction of triangle

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: Triangle ABC in which AB =AC=4.8cm, and  BC =5.3cm.

To construct: Triangle ABC. Draw AD perpendicular to BC.

Find: Measure ∠B and ∠C .

Solution:

Since AB = AC, ABC is an isosceles triangle. In an isosceles triangle, the base angles will be equal.

So ∠B will be = ∠C.

Construction:

  1. Draw a line segment BC = 5.3 cm.
  2. To construct a pendicular to BC, we need to draw arc with radius more than 1/2 BC.
  3. Since AB is more than 1/2BC, let's take that measurement.
  4. With B as center and 4.8 cm as radius, draw an arc.
  5. With C as center and 4.8 cm as radius, draw an arc such that it cuts the previous arc at A and line segment BC at D.
  6. Join AB and AC.

ABC is the required triangle.

AD will be the perpendicular bisector of BC.

∠B = ∠C
