Steps to construction :

1 ) Draw a rough skatch of ∆ABC and

mark the given measurements.

2 ) Construct ∆BCD using S.A.S rule with

measures BC = 6 cm , <B = 30° and

BD = 3.1 cm [ i.e AB - AC = 3.1 cm ]

3 ) Draw the perpendicular bisector of

CD .

Let it meet ray BDX at a point A.

4 ) Join AC to get the required ∆ABC.

Step-by-step explanation:

STEPS: 1) Construct segment BC = 6cm

2) Construct ray BX making 30° with BC.

3) Cut BC' = 6.2 cm from the ray BX.

4) Join C' & C

5) Now, construct perpendicular bisector of CC', which cuts BC' at A.

Triangle ABC is the required triangle.

JUSTIFICATION: Since perpendicular bisector of the base( unequal side) of an isosceles triangle passes through its vertex.

So, in the constructed triangle, AC' becomes equal to AC

Since , BA+AC' = 6.2 cm ( constructed)

But AC' = AC

=> BA+ AC = 6.2cm.

ie, in triangle ABC,
