Steps of construction:
1. Draw a line segment BC of 3.6cm.
2. At the point B, draw ∠x BC  of 60o
3. With center B and radius 4.8cm, draw an arc which intersects XB at D.
4. Join DC
5. Draw the perpendicular bisector of DC which intersects DB at A.
6. Join AC
Hence  Δ  ABCis the required triangle

Construction of ∆ABC is attached.

Given:

  • BC=3.6cm, angle B=60° and,
  • AB+AC=4.8cm

To find:

  • Construction of ∆ABC.

Solution:

Steps of construction:

  1. Draw line CB of 3.6 cm with the help of pencil.
  2. Draw \angle XBA=60^{\circ} with the help of compass.
  3. Mark an arc of radius 4.8 cm on ray XB. Let the point is L.
  4. Draw line segment LC.
  5. Draw perpendicular bisector of LC, it meets XB at a point, let the point is A.
  6. Draw line AC, Thus construction of ∆ABC is complete.

Verification:

On measurement of sides of ∆ABC, it is found that

AB= 1.6 cm

AC=3.2 cm

Thus,

AB+AC= 4.8 cm
