Construction of ∆ABC is attached.

Given:

  • ∆ABC with base BC=4.5cm,
  • Angle B =60° and AB+AC=7.1cm.

To find:

  • Construction of ∆ABC.

Solution:

Steps of construction:

  1. Draw a line segment BC of 4.5 cm with the help of pencil and scale.
  2. Draw \angle LBC= 60^{\circ} ,with the help of protector or compass.We are drawing here with compass.
  3. Measure an arc of radius 7.2 cm on LB.
  4. Draw a line LC.
  5. Draw perpendicular bisector of LC; it meets LB at a point, this is point A.
  6. Join A to C.
  7. Construction of ∆ABC is completely done.

Verification:

On measurement it is found that

AB=3.2 cm

AC= 3.9 cm

So,

AB+AC=7.1cm

Hence verified.
