Given : ∆ ABC with sides AB=6cm,BC=4.8cm and CA=5.6cm

To Find : construct a ∆ ABC

draw XY parallel to BC passing through the vertex A

Solution:

Step 1 : Draw a line segment BC = 4.8 cm

Step 2 : Taking compass width = 6 cm and B as center draw arc

Step 3 : Taking compass width = 5.6 cm and C as center draw arc such that it intersect arc drawn in previous step at  A

Step 4 : Join AB & AC

draw XY parallel to BC passing through the vertex A

Step 5 : Using compass width = BC and taking A as center draw an arc toward B

Step 6 : Using compass width = AC and taking B as center  draw arc such that it intersect arc drawn in previous step at  X

Step 7 : Draw a line XY passing through A

XY || BC
