Given : BC = 3 cm, AB = 6 cm and  AC = 4.5 cm

To find : Construct  Triangle  ABC

Solution:

Step  1  : Draw a  Line segment AB  =  6 cm

Step 2 : Using compass width  = 4.5  cm & Taking A as center , Draw an arc

Step 3 : Using Compass width = 3 Cm & taking B as center , Draw an arc Such that it intersect arc drawn in previous Step at C

Step 4 : Join AC  & BC

Δ ABC is Constructed

To Construct a line x/y  of Given line

Step  1 : Draw  given line AB

Step 2 :  Draw an acute angle  at A on AB

Step 3 : Using Suitable width of Compass take points one by one at equal distance   y if y > x  or x  if x  > y

Step 4  : Join y point with  B   & Draw a line parallel to

Step 5  :    Draw a line parallel to  the line passing through point X and intersecting AB  at D ( if y > x) or or intersecting the Extended AB at D if ( y < x )

AD  =  (x/y) AB

Use this concept on two Sides of triangle  to Construct a triangle whose sides are (x/y) of   Corresponding sides of the triangle ABC.
