Construct a triangle ECD with EC = ED = 6.8 cm, CD = 5.6 cm. What special name

is given to such a triangle?

The required triangle is drawn in the attachment.  

STEPS:

Draw a line segment CD = 5.6cm.

Taking C as a point, draw an arc of 6.8cm.

Similarly, Taking D as a point, draw an arc of 6.8 cm which intersects the arc draw by point C.

Both arcs interest at a particular point E.

Join CE and DE.

DE = CE = 6.8cm.

→ Hence, ∆ECD is the required triangle.  

→ The triangle is isosceles triangle because 2 sides of a triangle are equal and other one side is different.
