The construction of ∆ABC having perimeter 10cm is attached.

Given:

  • A triangle with perimeter 10cm.
  • Base angles 60° and 45° .

To find:

  • Construction of ∆ABC with steps.

Solution:

Steps of construction:

  1. Draw a line segment XY of 10 cm, let say it is XY.
  2. Draw an angle of 45° at X and 60° at Y, with the help of compass/protector.
  3. Draw angle bisectors of both angles, let these are \angle PXY and \angle QYX.
  4. These angle bisectors met at a point, mark that point as A.
  5. Draw perpendicular bisectors of lines PX and QY.
  6. These perpendicular bisectors meet line segment XY at two points, mark these points ad B and C respectively
  7. Draw the lines AB,AC and BC.
  8. Construction of ∆ABC is done.

Verification:

On measurement it is found that

BC= 4 cm

AB= 3.5 cm

AC= 2.5 cm

AB+BC+AC=10 cm

Base angles \angle B= 45^{\circ} and \angle C= 60^{\circ}.

Hence verified.
