Given : equilateral  triangle ABC

Each side = 5 cm

To Find : Construct a triangle similar to given triangle ABC  such that each side is 2/3 of the corresponding sides of triangle

Solution:

Step 1 : Draw  a line segment AB = 5 cm

Step 2 : Draw an angle of 50° at B on AB using protractor

Step 3 : Take a length of  5 cm  from B on angle drawn and mark as C

Step 4 : Join AC

ΔABC is  constructed

Draw an acute angle ∠BAX

Mark 3  points at equal distance from B one be one at ray BX

Join 3rd point with B

Draw a line parallel to above line from 2nd point and intersecting  AB at B'

Draw a line parallel to BC passing passing through B ' and intersecting  AC at C'

ΔAB'C'  is 2/3  of ΔABC

Step-by-step explanation:

STEPS :

draw a line segment AB = 5 cm

with A as a center and radius = 5 cm draw an arc

with B as a center and radius = 5 cm draw an arc , which cuts the previous arc at point C

ABC is the equilateral triangle

now , draw a ray AX mark 5 points on it at equal distances , say A_1,A_2,A_3,A_4,A_5A

parallel to it

similarly draw a line B'C'B

C

parallel to BC

AB'C' is the required triangle
