Given,

The sum of the two sides of the equilateral triangle is 8 centimetres.

To find,

The construction of the given equilateral triangle.

Solution,

First of all, we have to calculate the length of the each sides of the given equilateral triangle. (Every sides of an equilateral triangle is equal.)

Two sides = 8 cm

One side = 8/2 = 4 cm

Construction :

  • Draw a straight line of 4 centimetres length with the help of the pencil and scale. Name the endpoints of this straight line by B and C.
  • Take the pencil compass. Measure the length of exact 4 centimetres. Now draw two arcs with that measurement by putting the stationary pin on point B and point C respectively.
  • The two arcs should intersect each other. Name the intersection point as point A.
  • Join the point A with point B and point A with point C, in order to get AB and AC straight lines.
  • The ABC will be our necessary equilateral triangle.

(Diagram is attached with the answer)

Hence, the equilateral triangle is constructed.
