Construct an isosceles triangle whose base is 7 cm and altitude 5 cm and then construct another triangle whose sides are times the corresponding sides of the isosceles triangle.

Given :  an isosceles triangle whose base is 7 cm and altitude 5 cm  

To Find : Construct

Solution:

Step1  :  Draw a line segment AB = 7 cm

Step 2 :  Using suitable compass width and taking A as center draw arcs on both sides  of AB

Step 3 : Keeping compass width same and taking B as center draw arcs both sides to intersect arcs drawn in previous step at M & N

Step 4 : Draw a  line passing through M & N , intersecting AB at D

Step 5 : Using compass width = 5 cm and taking D as center , intersect line drawn in previous step at C

Step 6 :  join BC & AC

Triangle is constructed
