Construct parallelogram ABCD given that AB =3.6cm AC=4.8cm and BD =5.2cm

The parallelogram is as under:

Figure may not be to scale.

1. Draw the diagonal AC=4.8cm.

2. Now mark the midpoint of AC. We know that diagonals bisect each other in a parallelogram i.e., diagonals intersect each other at midpoints of their corresponding diagonals.

3. Using a compass, using length as 2.6cm (half of BD), draw two arcs on either sides of AC.

4. Using a compass, using length as 3.6cm (length of AB) on any one side of AC and mark the point as B.

5. Draw a line connecting B and the midpoint of AC, touching the arc on the other side. Now mark the point on the other side as D.

6. Join A,B,C, and D to construct parallelogram ABCD.
