Answer:
Once upon a time there was a young hard working merchant. Unfortunately no matter what he did, he suffered losses in business. So he decided to leave the village and seek his fortune in a distant country.
The merchant did not own much. All he had were 500 iron bars that he entrusted to his friend. The bars would come in handy in case he did not do well abroad. He could always sell them and raise some capital. His friend took charge of the bars and asked him not to worry. So, saying adieu the merchant embarked on his journey.
Years passed. No one had heard from the merchant. Finally one day the merchant came back to the village. His friend greeted him warmly, but when the merchant asked for the iron bars the friend simply told him that the rats had eaten them all.
'As unbelievable as it may seem, the truth is that the little creatures here seem to have developed strange super powers.'
The merchant was terribly disappointed with his friend’s blatant dishonesty but said nothing.
A few days later the merchant invited his friends son over for supper. The child came by and had a wonderful time. Later in the evening, the merchant’s friend came to pick up his son but the child was nowhere to be seen. When he asked the merchant about his son the merchant nodded sadly.
'Ah!' , he said, ' Alas! The sparrows flew away with your son. Now I know exactly what superpowers you were talking about.'
Within half an hour cartloads of iron rods reached the merchant's house. And on one of those very carts, the little boy rode back home.
Explanation:
Once in a land far away there lived a merchant who was rich and compassionate. The merchant used to help everyone but was never satisfied with his life.
So he decided to quit his work and leave the land in search of the truth. He entrusted his best friend with the responsibility of taking care of thousands of people of his land with the money he gave him and also the recent iron road he had constructed for the people.
The merchant left in quest of truth and returned to find his money had been spent by his friend on himself and the road was eaten by rats. The merchant was calm and cool, so he invited his friend's little son for supper who did not return back home after supper.
He searched out in the jungle and asked a sparrow who said that he carried the boy away to the lord of the jungle who wanted to teach his greedy friend a lesson. The merchant with his compassionate heart managed to inculcate the values of forgiveness into his life, therefore, making the boy free.
The lord was so happy with the merchant that he restored the iron road as well and the people of the land lived happily ever after.
