A kite is a quadrilateral in which two disjoint pairs of consecutive sides are congruent.
Here A,E,Y,S are the vertices of kites. SY is one of the diagonal. AY, EY, AS, ES are the side of the kite. 
here being AY and EY different in length.
hence AY= AS= 8cm and EY= ES= 4cm
